Review: The Five People You Meet in Heaven

This past weekend I rented The Five People You Meet in Heaven from the local video store. It was recommended by a family member. Knowing that it was a “chick flick” I was a bit reluctant. I was also skeptical, because among the sea of movies in the New Release Section(in which most movies are no longer NEW there) there was only 1 copy.

We plunked it in late Saturday night. Bad idea. It’s no action movie, so needless to say we fell asleep, and had to watch it the next day.

I not a John Voigt fan, but the movie started out with some real drama. Just the amount of drama to keep me interested. Without spoiling the story, it’s about a man looking back on his life. The twist: is that what he sees, is not really how things are in the bigger scheme of life.

The film included some violence, and many ‘war scenes’, which was what kept myself interested in the movie. Before too long I was roped in wondering what was going to happen next. It was a long movie (just over 2 hours). You kind of realize the movie is longer than average, but it kept you wondering, so it was worth it. My mind kept relating to my own life and how I see things.

I can actually say it was a chick flick worth seeing, and worth sitting through.

I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

You make a great point. Got some great information here. I think that if more people thought about it that way, theyd have a better time understanding the issue. Your view is definitely something Id like to see more of.
