According to the Miami Herald people from the age of the walkman are now starting to show more hearing problems. The article goes on to talk about today’s ability to listen to music any time, as opposed to just jogging. They are just learning of the impacts now, from the walkman. Imagine what it will be like in 20 years after the iPod!
How much is too much?
Meinke says a good rule of thumb comes from a study published in December: Researchers at Boston Children’s Hospital determined that listening to a portable music player with headphones at 60 percent of its potential volume for one hour a day is relatively safe.
